Well the 81-7 is like an 81 and the 707 based off of an 85. I play in 6 string bass tuning (BEADGC) and used to use my KH-2NT for it. The 81 was ideal as it kept that top end bite quite well. 85s (and thus, so I'd presume, 707s) are alnico and so arer 'warmer', and alot bassier.
