There was a quite long thread about this issue a while back, basically when gsync is on and vsync is off you will still get minor tearing usually at the bottom of the screen when the fps is a percentage below your screens hz due to the way gsync works. It has a latency which effects at what fps it works at.

WebSep 23, 2024 · One thing to note is that gsync only works when your fps is lower than your refreshrate so let's say you have a 144hz monitor and your fps is 160 well in that case gsync won't stop screen tearing. Usually people enable fps limiters to avoid this issue or you can use fast sync alongside gsync as well.
